We are beyond honored to share that the Fresno City Council has officially recognized the Meux Home Corporation with a proclamation, celebrating over half a century of dedicated stewardship in preserving the Meux Home Museum. For more than 50 years, our volunteers, board members, and supporters have worked tirelessly to protect and maintain this cherished Victorian gem, keeping history alive for our community and future generations.
This recognition shines a light on decades of quiet, often behind-the-scenes dedication. Caring for a 137-year-old home is no small feat. It requires more than just paint and repairs. It takes heart, perseverance, and a deep respect for the past. Every creaking floorboard, every lovingly polished banister, every carefully restored artifact is a reflection of the people who have poured their time, skill, and passion into ensuring that Fresno’s history continues to stand with grace and purpose.
The proclamation from the City of Fresno acknowledges not only the architectural significance of the Meux Home, but also its role as a living link between eras. This house has welcomed guests from across the region and beyond, offering tours, educational programming, and a chance to step inside a different century. Through fires and floods, budget challenges and countless hours of volunteer labor, the Meux Home has endured because people believed it should.
This moment is more than symbolic. It serves as a reminder of the responsibility we carry, not just to preserve the past, but to make it meaningful and accessible for everyone who walks through our doors. Historic preservation is not about nostalgia. It is about grounding ourselves in a shared story, one that continues to shape our identity as a city and a community.
To all who have volunteered, donated, toured, hosted events, or simply spoken a kind word in support of our mission, this honor belongs to you as well. The Meux Home is not kept alive by one person or board or moment. It survives and thrives because of a collective belief that history matters.

The framed proclamation now hangs within the museum as a symbol of what can be accomplished when people care deeply and act with intention. As we look ahead to another season of programming and preservation, we do so with gratitude for the past and a firm commitment to the future.
Here’s to another 50 years of history, heritage, and heart at the Meux Home Museum.
