SUMMARY:Meux Home Museum Spring Garden Tea
DESCRIPTION:Each spring the grounds of the Meux Home Museum come alive with color\, fragrance\, and quiet elegance. The Spring Garden Tea invites guests to enjoy a leisurely Victorian style afternoon tea set among blooming flowers and the historic surroundings of the museum grounds. \nGuests will be welcomed into the garden for a beautifully arranged tea service featuring delicate refreshments served in the tradition of nineteenth century gatherings. The setting offers a peaceful escape where conversation flows easily and the pace of the day slows for a while. \nDuring the event\, visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the museum itself. Throughout the house and grounds\, living history demonstrators will share the quiet pastimes that once filled Victorian afternoons. Guests may encounter traditional handcrafts\, domestic arts\, and recreations of activities that entertained families during the Gilded Age. \nGuests are encouraged to wear festive spring attire or decorative hats if they wish\, continuing the cheerful tradition of garden gatherings. \nA silent auction will accompany the tea\, offering a selection of unique items and experiences. Bidding provides another meaningful way to support the preservation of this remarkable historic home. \nAll proceeds from the Spring Garden Tea benefit the continued care and restoration of the Meux Home Museum. \n\nTicket Information \nSeating for the Spring Garden Tea is arranged at tables that accommodate eight guests each. Guests are welcome to purchase tickets individually or as a group. \nIf members of your party are purchasing tickets separately but would like to be seated together\, please send an email to events@meuxhomemuseum.org after purchasing your tickets. Include the names of all guests in your party so our team can arrange seating accordingly. \nWhile we will make every effort to seat groups together\, requests must be received in advance so seating arrangements can be prepared prior to the event. \nFor general questions about the Spring Garden Tea\, please contact us at events@meuxhomemuseum.org. When sending your message\, kindly include “Meux Home Museum Spring Garden Tea 2026” in the subject line so we may direct your inquiry to the appropriate team member.

SUMMARY:Closed for Fathers Day
DESCRIPTION:While Father’s Day as we know it today would not become an official holiday until the early twentieth century\, Victorian families held deep respect for the role of fathers within the home. In the late nineteenth century\, fathers were often viewed as providers\, protectors\, and moral guides who helped shape the character and values of their children. \nVictorian family life placed great importance on education\, manners\, and strong family bonds. Fathers frequently participated in reading with their children\, teaching practical skills\, and encouraging personal responsibility. Family gatherings\, shared meals\, church attendance\, and time spent together at home were common ways families celebrated and strengthened those relationships. \nUnlike modern Father’s Day celebrations\, there was no specific annual holiday dedicated to fathers during the Victorian period. However\, expressions of gratitude and respect were woven into daily family life. Letters\, handmade gifts\, family photographs\, and cherished keepsakes often served as meaningful reminders of a father’s influence and legacy. \nAt the Meux Home Museum\, we appreciate the important role fathers have played throughout history and the lasting impact they continue to have on their families today. In observance of Father’s Day\, the museum is closed so that our volunteers\, staff\, and visitors may spend time celebrating the fathers\, grandfathers\, stepfathers\, mentors\, and father figures who have enriched their lives. \nWe wish all fathers and father figures a wonderful Father’s Day and thank them for the guidance\, wisdom\, and love they share with future generations.
